Signature projects

The projects highlighted below are a few examples of how we have contributed to the development of today’s modern Saudi Arabia in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s pillars for a vibrant society, thriving economy, and ambitious nation.

Jeddah Stormwater Drainage Project

Jeddah
2010-2011
The project was prompted by the deadly Jeddah floods of 2010. It culminated in building essential infrastructure of Jeddah’s stormwater drainage structure. This system prevents the destruction of thousands of homes and other structures and saves lives.

YANBU 4 INDEPENDENT WATER PROJECT

AL Madinah AL Munawwarah
2010-Present
Established as a special purpose company to develop the Yanbu Independent Water Project, following the establishment of a consortium of Engie, Nesma Company and Mowah. The project comprises the construction and operation & maintenance of a seawater desalination plant in the city of Yanbu that includes storage facilities for two operational days. The project will supply potable water to the regions of Makkah and Madinah. The project is the first desalination water with pipeline in Saudi Arabia developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) structure. It has a capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day and a total cost of SAR 3.3 billion.  

National Guard Health Affairs Specialized Hospitals

The project is assigned to build 5 new specialized Saudi Arabian National Guard Health Affairs hospitals. Hospitals will serve an additional 1,400 citizens per day in specialized women and children care, and neuroscience and trauma facilities. 

Makkah Bus Project

The Holy City of Makkah
2017-Present
A consortium made of Nesma Co. Ltd and the Spanish transport company Transports Ciutat Comtal (TCC) was awarded the contract. The project supplies the 10-year operation and maintenance of 400 Makkah Public Transportation Program buses. It will ultimately provide wider transportation options for the public and improve travel throughout the city while addressing the social, economic and environmental impacts of transport.

Masar Makkah

The Holy City of Makkah
2015-Present
The project alleviates congestion in the Holy City of Makkah. It facilitates religious tourism providing access to pilgrims. It has built and installed state-of-the-art and future technologies in transportation, including 2 metro stations, a 5,700-meter metro tunnel, 4 carparks, 2 flyovers, 11 pedestrian underpasses, 12 vehicle underpasses, 2 bus stations, and South and North tunnels.

The Red Sea Airport Project

2020-Present
Delivered through a JV between Nesma & Partners and Almabani General Contractors, the project will develop the airside infrastructure at the Red Sea International Airport, and will include a 3,700m main runway, a 525m seaplane runway, parallel taxiways, and three helipads. Designed by Foster & Partners, the 28km2 airport will have a capacity of 900 passengers per hour and is forecast to have a million passengers annually by 2030.

Binzagr National Distribution Center Project

KAEC, Jeddah
2018-2021
The project was for the construction and complete fit-out of two fully-automated high bay warehouses, covering an area of 22,000 m2, and a pre-engineered 38,000 m2 low bay warehouse, It also included the construction of guard houses, a utility building, electricity & generator buildings, SEC room, and reception block with boundary walls. Other works included general earthworks, landscape and hardscape works, and complete Mechanical, Electrical and Low Current works.

South Jeddah Solar Power Project

Jeddah 3rd Industrial City, Makkah Province
2021-Present
Delivered in partnership with EDF Renewables and Masdar, the 300 MW South Jeddah solar project was awarded in the second round of competitive tendering under the Saudi Ministry of Energy renewable energy program. It will have an initial operational life of 25 years and will be able to power up to 50,000 homes and displace 750,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Riyadh Water Supply Enhancement Program

Riyadh
2012-2013
The project was to increase the National Water Company’s drinking water supply for Riyadh City, in-line with future capacity demands. It included the construction of 13 deep water wells and containerized water treatment plants, together with a cooling tower, and was supported by a two-year operation & maintenance contract.

Dumat Al Jandal Onshore Wind Farm

Al Jouf
2019-Present
Delivered in partnership with EDF Renewables and Masdar, the project is the first onshore wind farm in Saudi Arabia and the largest in the Middle East, with 99 turbines creating a total generating capacity of 400 MW. The project was awarded in the first round of competitive tendering under the Saudi Ministry of Energy renewable energy program, and will generate enough energy to power up to 70,000 homes and displace 1 million tons of CO2 emissions each year.

Red Sea Landscape Nursery Project

Umluj City
2019-2020
The project included the design and build of a 1 million m2 landscape nursery, and the installation of shade and green houses and water tanks, together with the construction of the management office, warehouses and other facilities. It also includes the ongoing operation and maintenance of the nursery. The nursery grows and maintains flora for the Red Sea Development Co. and by 2030 will have provided over 15 million plants and trees for its landscaping requirements.

Watani Project

Hail
2016-2019
The General Authority of Civil Aviation granted Nesma Airlines a national commercial operator license to operate the ‘Watani’ Project and connect Saudi Arabia’s northern region through a network of hub airports. Hail International Airport was chosen as the main hub for Nesma Airlines, from which it operated a route that covered 12 destinations using the latest ATR 72-600 aircraft, and provided links between the Kingdom’s northern cities.

Jabal Omar Development Project

Jeddah 3rd Industrial City, Makkah Province
2011-2017
The project included the design, engineering, procurement, construction and furnishing of ten towers, two Hilton Suites Hotels, two JW Marriot Hotels, two Hyatt Regency Hotels, and two Conrad Hotels, for the Jabal Omar Development Project.
